This is the big one. As you approach the Topkapi Museum, even at a distance you will begin to get an idea of the sheer opulence contained within those walls ahead. It is a treasure chest of unparalleled wealth, containing every gizmo and artefact you can imagine from a variety of historical ages. See the first, second, third and fourth sprawling courtyards. Wander in the ample space of the Audience Hall, visit the high court, the historical kitchens with their ancient pots and pans and fine cutlery. Roam towards the royal stables, where time ago magnificent steeds used to shoot the breeze while waiting to pummel the grounds in a gallop. And there is still more: the treasury, the gardens, the kiosks… It is a truly privileged insight into the life of the people who pulled the strings in the Ottoman Empire.
After that, this tour takes you to an additional destination: the awe-inspiring Hagia Irene Church. Alongside your guide, you will learn the stories behind these fabulous places, all in all, a truly enlightening day.
