From St Peter’s you will then go below the basilica to the grottoes. Your guide will show you the papal tombs going all the way back to Leo I in 461AD, and including Sixtus IV, after whom the Sistine Chapel is named, and Julius II, who chose Michelangelo to fresco it and Raphael to decorate his private apartments.
