Program details

Most food tours consist of guides bringing you from one restaurant or food kiosk to another. In this Cappadocia food tour, we’ll bring you to traditional and amazing places to eat and show you the history and culture behind the delicious food you’ll be enjoying.

First things first, coffee (or tea)! Sip on some aromatic Turkish coffee in a favourite local haunt with some fantastic views. After we’ve got some caffeine in our systems, we’ll visit a local fruit and vegetable market. Feel free to try out any fresh produce you’d like (On the days the market is closed, we will stay longer in other places).

Next, we’ll head to Ortahisar where we’ll visit caves used in ancient times as food storage. Back then refrigerators didn’t exist and these caves were what acted as nature’s refrigerators.

We’ll have lunch in a beloved traditional restaurant which serves authentic and home-cooked meals. Babayanevi is one of the few restaurants in the area that has a traditional tandoori oven. After lunch, we’ll head to the farm where ingredients for the restaurant are grown.

Then we’ll have some free time to explore the tranquil village of Ibrahimpasa before heading to the Ortahisar Viewpoint. This vantage point boasts brilliant, panoramic 360-degree views of the town all the way to Uchisar and Goreme.

After taking some amazing photos of the view, we’ll end the day with a sumptuous wine tasting before heading back to your accommodations with your bellies stuffed with tasty and unforgettable food.

* The local fruit and vegetable market is only open on Tuesdays Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
