Program details
We will pick you up from your hotel and take you to the grounds where the new Basilica is located, known as the La Villa de Guadalupe. Here we make our way up the Tepeyac Hill with your expert guide who will regale you with the stories behind this important site; where Our Lady of Guadalupe is said to have appeared before St Juan Diego. The spot is commemorated with a striking fountain and temple, and walking around the open lush park grounds, you can feel peace away from the city crowds. At this point, you can buy a special religious souvenir which will be blessed by the priest at the end of our visit.
We then make our own pilgrimage down to the Basilica which is located at the bottom of the hill. It is home to the original cloak of St Juan Diego which holds the image of Our Lady of Guadalupe, and you will witness how the Basilica is entirely centred on Our Lady of Guadalupe due to its circular shape. Go through one of the seven front doors and hear mass in the 50,000-seat Basilica, which several million people make the pilgrimage to each year. c
