Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo is home to thousands of aquatic animals, comprising over 140 species. Over 400 Sharks and Rays live in our 10 million litre tank, including Sand Tiger Sharks, Giant Groupers, and a host of other marine species. A series of carefully designed experiences will allow our visitors to come face to face with our aquatic residents for memorable moments with friends and family.
- Aquarium Tank
• One of the largest suspended aquariums in the world (51m x 20m x 11m in size, 10 million litres of water)
• Guinness World Record for ‘World’s Largest Acrylic Panel’ measuring 32.88m x 8.3m and ‘World’s Largest OLED screens’
• 33 thousand aquatic animals, over 140 species including 300 sharks & rays live in this tank, including the largest collection of Sand Tiger Sharks in the world.
• 48-metre walk-through Tunnel provides 270-degree views from 11 meters below the surface of the tank
• Experiences include: Visiting the aqua nursery, Glass Bottom Boat rides, Cage Snorkeling, Shark Encounter, Otter encounter, Crocodile encounter, Ray encounter as well as daily feeding presentations.
- Underwater Zoo
The Underwater Zoo offers an interactive approach to educating guests of all ages on the ecology and sustainability of marine life. There are three ecological zones: Rainforest, Coastline and UAE Night Creatures, where a variety of aquatic animals are featured including Penguins, Crocodiles, Piranhas, Giant Spider Crabs, Otters, Water Rats, Sea Horses and Sea Jellies amongst others.
- Penguin Encounter
The Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo Gentoo penguins came from a facility in the USA, in the wild, they can be found in their natural habitat around the Antarctic Peninsula and Subantarctic islands. We have a purpose-built temperature-controlled facility to replicate the Subantarctic environmental conditions. Our air temperature is kept between 2 and 4 degrees Celcius and our water temperature is between 5 and 7 degrees. We also have a special lighting system that replicates their annual light cycle. Penguin wintertime is during our summer! The exhibit is multi-level and has lots of exciting areas for the penguins to climb on and explore, including a slide into the pool. Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo is home to a total of 16 beautiful Gentoo penguins – 8 male, 8 female. The all-new immersive encounter allows guests to step inside the Penguin Cove habitat and go face-to-feather with the colony of live Gentoo penguins while learning about their fascinating natural behaviours.
