Il programma nel dettaglio

It’s a little-known fact that the oldest city in the United States is in Florida. This full-day guided tour of St Augustine will take you back in time to visit the remnants of Spanish colonial Florida. You will see the oldest fort and school in the US and wander cobbled streets that are more Old World than New World.

Among the many fascinating sights in St Augustine are the Castillo de San Marcos, a 17th century star fort, Flagler College, the Cathedral Basilica of St Augustine, finished just a few years before the Spaniards handed Florida over to the Unites States, and Fort Matanzas a Spanish defensive structure on the Matanzas River that is accessible by boat only. Not far from the fairytale castles of Orlando are genuine centuries-old versions.

But there’s more to St Augustine than history. The city centre’s vibrant narrow streets are choc-a-block with cafés and restaurants serving excellent food, giving the city a genuine buzz.

You can opt to add an open trolley tour or a scenic boat cruise to your day trip. The hop on-hop off trolley meanders through the cobbles streets as the driver regales you with titbits of information about this historic town. Or view the fort, lighthouse, the Bridge of Lions and more on a 75-minute narrated, sightseeing boat tour around Matanzas Bay.
